Application Requirements

Review the items below to ensure you submit a complete and eligible application by meeting all relevant requirements.

1. Application for Admission to Graduate Study

Submit a complete application including all required supplements as outlined on this page and in the application instructions. We understand that fulfilling all parts of the application (transcripts, diplomas, etc.) may be difficult at this time given the Coronavirus pandemic, so the Graduate Admissions Committees will remain flexible and review delayed application materials on a case by case basis.

However, please note that incomplete applications as of one deadline will be moved to the next deadline (with the exception of MSM). Any incomplete applications as of the rolling admissions deadline will be deemed ineligible.

2a. English Language Proficiency (see important updates below)

Present valid and official results confirming English Language Proficiency typically through the TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic exams. Test scores are valid for two years. For AUA admission purposes, make sure your test date was less than two years before the application submission date. You must submit your official score report(s) directly from the appropriate testing service. To ensure we receive your official test scores, indicate AUA as a recipient using our institution codes:

  • TOEFL iBT – code 4151
  • IELTS Academic – 40 Baghramyan Ave, Yerevan

Native and near native speakers are eligible for a waiver. To see if you qualify for the waiver, please review the English Language Proficiency Test waiver policy here. If eligible, complete and submit your waiver application at im.aua.am well before you submit your application for admission. If you are denied a waiver, you will need to take the TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic exam in a timely manner.

Important Update for Fall 2020 Applicants: AUA will accept the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition Test and IELTS Indicator as proof of English Language Proficiency. However, given the recent suspension of required entrance exams, AUA’s graduate programs will also offer an alternative to the English language proficiency exam. AUA’s Internal English Assessment is for Fall 2020 applicants only and will be offered during an extended admissions interview when applicants will also be assessed on their speaking, listening, and written English language skills. If you plan to take the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition test or IELTS Indicator, you must do so by April 30 for MSM and May 16 for all other programs so that it is considered for regular admission. See admissions.aua.am/coronavirus for more information.

2b. Graduate Standardized Tests (see important updates below)

Certain programs require that you present official Graduate School Admissions Exam results through the GRE (quantitative section), GMAT (quantitative section), or LSAT* depending on your selected field of study as outlined here. None of these exams are required of MA TEFL applicants.

For admissions purposes, your GRE, GMAT, or LSAT scores are only valid for five years. This means you must ensure you took the exam no earlier than five years before the date you submit your application.  To ensure we receive your official GRE, GMAT, or LSAT scores, make sure they are sent to AUA on or by the application deadline date using the following institution codes:

  • GRE code 0676
  • GMAT code 0284
  • LSAT code 0868

* LL.M. applicants who hold a degree in law are eligible to request a waiver to the LSAT test. If you hold a previous degree in law, complete and submit a LSAT application form at im.aua.am well before you submit your application for admission. If you are denied a waiver, you will need to take the LSAT test in a timely manner.

Important Update for Fall 2020 Applicants: AUA will accept the GRE General at Home, GMAT Online Exam, and LSAT – FLEX tests. GRE and GMAT exams must be taken on or by May 7, 2020 while the LSAT-FLEX exam must be taken on or by May 20 to be considered for regular admissions. If taking the GRE, make sure to send a screenshot of your score to [email protected] immediately upon completion of your exam. However, given the current suspension of required entrance exams, AUA is waiving these exams for all Fall 2020 applicants.

If you are unable to take the GRE or GMAT and are applying to the MSM, MBA, or MSE programs, download and attach the following Form detailing math and statistical concepts you have covered previously. You will be questioned about these in more detail during your interview. Please title this document “Math and Statistical Concepts”.

LL.M. applicants unable to take the LSAT should be prepared to answer logical questions during the admissions interview. Visit admissions.aua.am/coronavirus for more information.
