Undergraduate Application Requirements

To confirm that your application for admission is complete, make sure that you meet the following requirements:

1. Application for Admission to Undergraduate Study
Submit a complete application including all required supplements as outlined on this page and in the application instructions. We understand that fulfilling all parts of your application (transcripts, diplomas, etc.) may be difficult at this time given the Coronavirus pandemic, so the Undergraduate Admissions Committees will remain flexible and review delayed application materials on a case by case basis.

However, please note that incomplete applications as of one deadline will be moved to the next deadline. Any incomplete applications as of the rolling admissions deadline will be deemed ineligible.

2. English Language Proficiency (see important updates below)

Present valid and official results confirming English language proficiency typically through the TOEFL iBT (target score: 79*) or IELTS Academic (target score: 6.5*) exams. Native and near native speakers are eligible for a waiver. For more information, please read the English Language Proficiency waiver policy and application form here.

You must submit official score reports confirming English language proficiency either from the TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic exams. For AUA application purposes, the TOEFL/IELTS Academic scores are valid only if your test date was less than two years before the application submission date. You must ensure that official test scores are sent to AUA directly from the testing service, using AUA’s institution codes as noted below:

  • TOEFL iBT code 4151
  • IELTS Academic – 40 Baghramyan Ave, Yerevan

* If any of your official test scores are below the minimum targets for the program to which you are applying, you may be offered conditional admission.

Important Update for Fall 2020 Applicants: AUA will accept the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition Test as proof of English Language Proficiency. However, given the suspension of required entrance exams, AUA will offer an alternative to the English language proficiency exam. This internal assessment will test reading and writing skills, as well as ability to construct a well-reasoned argument, supported by evidence. The exam will be divided into three parts; the first a timed essay, the second an extended 15 minute admissions interview, and the third an on-the-spot 15 minute essay. More information is available at admissions.aua.am/coronavirus.

3. Math Proficiency (see important updates below)
Present valid and official results confirming math proficiency* typically through the SAT or ACT exams.  Visit this link for a list of our target scores. If you plan on taking either the SAT or ACT, make sure to indicate AUA’s institution codes as follows to ensure proper receipt of the score report:

  • SAT code 7257
  • ACT code 6982

* If you previously took the AUA Math Test, we will consider valid test scores as proof of math proficiency for the Fall 2020 admission cycle.

Important Update for Fall 2020 Applicants: As part of AUA’s holistic admissions process, the Undergraduate Admissions Committee will review all available parts of your application. If you were unable to take the SAT or ACT exams for Fall 2020 admissions, you may be invited to an extended admissions interview which will include a short assessment on your quantitative and mathematical aptitude.
